The Eta Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce our 2025 Debutante Scholarship Cotillion on Saturday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m. in the South Bend Century Center Discovery Ballroom. Sixteen (16) of Michiana's outstanding and elegantly gifted young ladies will be introduced. Tickets are available for purchase at $70 per ticket via akaetamuomega.org. The deadline for ticket purchase is Friday, April 4. Attire for the Debutante Scholarship Cotillion is semi-formal.

Biennially, the ladies of the Eta Mu Omega Chapter of South Bend, Indiana, sponsors the Debutante Scholarship Cotillion, a program that accepts young ladies in their junior or senior year of high school who are selected based on their academic achievements, moral character, and community involvement. The 2025 Cotillion is our twenty-third presentation, with Debutantes representing schools from both St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.

In the months leading up to the Cotillion, the Debutantes are required to participate in civic and cultural activities. The young ladies attend workshops facilitated by members of Eta Mu Omega and local professionals addressing various topics such as building and maintaining a personal brand, fostering self-esteem, exploring career choices, cultivating leadership skills, and preparing for success. Each Debutante has an escort for the Cotillion who also attends workshops addressing career choice and post-secondary educational pursuits. During the Cotillion, each Debutante performs the Minuet with their escort and the Waltz with their father or father-figure. Additionally, scholarships and other honors are awarded to the Debutantes.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is the first African American women's Greek letter college-based sorority. Founded in January of 1908 at Howard University in Washington, D.C., the Sorority's members are committed "to serve all mankind" through a nucleus of more than 300,000 members nationally and internationally. The local graduate chapter, Eta Mu Omega, was founded in 1960 and sponsors the Scholarship Cotillion, a program that emphasizes the provision of educational scholarships and career goals for high school junior and senior ladies from the surrounding area who are planning a future toward higher education. The primary focus was and continues to be scholarship and academic achievement. The program includes the development of leadership and social skills and a commitment to collegiate education.

We invite the media to come and capture the positive activities and elegance of our young people.
